This week I worked with Callie's paper stool. I unrolled the book pages and fashioned them in long strips. I then folded them into tear drops so they'd be stronger and less likely to buckle.

Thanks to a tip from Parker, I also attached some of the tear drops together in the hopes that they would be even stronger and less prone to buckling.

Tissue paper to Book paper

My first iterations using tissue paper explored its crease-ability, fragility, and density when it is rolled.

When it came to translating to a larger scale, I went to good will to pick up some old or outdated books. Though most books aren't necessarily headed for the trash bin, many (i.e. textbooks) become useless or obsolete over time, and need a new job.

There are three structural elements in a hardcover book: the cover, the binding, and the pages. I chose to use the pages to create a little reading stool. My next attempts will include the cover and/or binding in an attempt to decrease the mass of the object and possibly create a collapse system.
