an abstract narrative

_Adam Poliner's Pop Up Book Creation

I am not a fan of putting words on a page, so my first inclination was to shy away from the traditional pop up "book". Instead of pop ups illustrating an existing narrative, could I make the pop ups the actual narrative? Thinking of the pop ups in this manner led me to try to create an artistic composition that was formed by the pop ups. I endeavored to create a pop up experience that opened continuously out from itself, instead of the traditional middle fold "book" style. After many failures and tests, I created "an abstract narrative."

Materials: sketching paper, newsprint, honeycomb, glue
