So here are my long overdue tests of fiber optics.
First model (fiber optics set within plaster):
Held up to
the light:
Manipulation of the fiber optics and seeing if it still transmits light:
No 1. bending
Conclusion: Still transmits light when bent as evidenced by differences in brightness on the darkened side, when light source on the bright side is first left open then covered.
No. 2 Folding
Conclusion: Still transmits light, but it is significantly weakened. As evidenced by the above test.

ReplyDeleteDid you notice that at the fold it is the brightest rather than at the end? You may be able to use this to your advantage. Have you tried a mixtures of bending and folding? Weaving perhaps? Sewing?
