TYVEK

My studio project this semester is the Charlottesville City (Farmers') Market,
so I want to explore a softer material that is waterproof/resistant and provides shade
as a potential for pop up canopies.

Emily and I got our hands on some Tyvek by buying painter's coveralls at Lowe's and
cutting off the sleeves. Our inside Tyvek source will be back in town in a few days and hopefully we'll be able to try some different types. What we have seems to fold well and hold a crease though!

We also downloaded copious amounts of information about agricultural shade materials from Lucia Phinney's brain.

And found some cool Tyvek projects on the web:

  1. Your last link presents an interesting capability to tyvek...laser cutting. I can't wait to see the scaled up tests!
